While Shri Bangaru Bhattar, Prof of Tamil , shaped his expertise at Culwe College, Maha Vidhvan Periasamy sharpened his sensitivity to literature. He could recite long verses from the Tamil Classics and contemporary works. Before he was 17, he became a full-pledged Tamil scholar and assumed charge as a school teacher. He was guided by a firm will and fearless mind, whenever he wanted to bring about changes either at school or in the community around. This set the wealthy and the influential against him and he had to suffer a lot.
