The period of Nayak Rule saw multiplication of castes, in the wake of Telugu colonization. The Nayak Rulers were liberal in meeting the social needs and requirements of various sects of people. Religious conversions and the practice of polygamy were the order of the day. Celebration of festivals was conducted with fervour.

The Nayak Rulers turned temples into treasure-houses of culture. Music, painting, sculpture and Architecture received royal favour.
