The
Post Sangam literature focuses mostly on moral values. பதினென் கீழ்க்கணக்கு
நூல்கள் belong to this period. திருக்குறள் is part of this anthology.
Attempts have been made to interpret திருக்குறள் in such a way as to find
evidences in it for Tamils, faith in Saivism.
சிலப்பதிகாரம், the extant full-length Tamil epic, speaks of Siva, Uma and Muruga in explicit and elaborate terms, testifying to the popularity of the religion and its beliefs. மணிமேகலை, on the otherhand, treats Saivism as a faith among others. கல்லாடம், a classic of the post Sangam era, may be taken as the first full length literary work talking about the glory of Siva. |
