A02142 Marital life |
This lesson talks about the grammar related to “Karpu”.
It also discusses issues related to married life. Family life after marriage
is known as “Karpu Vaalkai”. Narkaviraasa Nambi refers to this as the stage
after marriage and that consists of conjugating, departing, continuing,
lamenting and quarrelling. Life of married couple is known as “Illvaalkai
Nilai” and life when they are separated is known as “Pirivu”.
Couples after marriage feel happy about their married life and this
married life is divided into Kilavon Magilchi, Kilathi Magilchi, Paangi
Magilchi and Sevili Magilchi. “Kilavon Magilchi” is where the husband is
happy with his married life. “Kilathi Magilchi” denotes that the wife is
happy and feels satisfied with her married life. “Paangi Magilchi” is the
happiness felt by the best friend of the woman. She feels happy as her
friend and her husband are leading a happy life. “Sevili Magilchi” is where
the Foster mother of the woman feels happy. All these definitions are based
on Nambi Agaporul.
Married life is classified into different types.
There is a stage in married life when the husband has to leave his wife,
though temporarily. This is known as “Pirivu”. “Pirivu” situation can be
divided into six different types. They are “Parathaiyir Pirivu”, “Odhal
Pirivu”, “Kaaval Pirivu”, “Thoodhu Pirivu”, “Thunaiviyin Pirivu” and
“Porulviyin Pirivu”. The husband, who leads a married life with his wife,
falls for a woman of ill - repute, called Parathai and separates from his
wife. This separation is “Parathaiyar Pirivu”. This is further divided into
four types. The wife getting angry with the actions of her husband is
referred to as “Oodal”. “Oodal” can also be referred to as the difference of
opinion that exists between a husband and a wife.
From this lesson we learnt about “Karpu” and the married life of a
