The eleventh section of the Cūṭāmaṇi Nikaṇṭu has songs which rhyme in their second letters. The chief, peculiar characteristic of this section is that these rhymes are arranged in the alphabetical order as mentioned by its author in the introductory verse. Nevertheless, we cannot consider it as a ‘rhyming dictionary’. It is not quite exhaustive. The fourth section of Caturakarāti corresponds to the 11th section of the Cūṭāmaṇi Nikaṇṭu. It has two divisions:

(a) the rhyme of short letters.
(b)the rhyme of long letters.

Both these two parts give the rhymes for all the letters. and its group-which are brought as second letter rhymes-in the Nikaṇṭu are only 39 while in Beschi’s work they total 335.10

The tenth section of the Nikaṇṭu has for col 21 synonyms. The word has akaṟṟal has 3 synonyms. But, Beschi’s Caturakarāti has 31 synonyms for col and 4 for the latter. This author has given here and there some explanatory notes. For col - acaiccol - for which he gives an explanatory note.

The 12th section of the Cūṭāmaṇi Nikaṇṭu deals with plurals. For example:-irumai, iruviṉai. This proceeds upto thirty two. This is not in alphabetical order, nor does it treat the singular. The Caturakarāti’s third section corresponds to this. It deals with the singular (orumai) and is in alphabetical order. While treating “Triples” the earlier book gives 14 instances but Beschi gives 39. Tamil is not included in the list on triples by the Nikaṇṭu. But Beschi has included it.

In Nikaṇṭu the நால்வகைக் கேள்வி is given as அறநூல் கேட்டல், பொருணூல் கேட்டல், இன்பநூல் கேட்டல், வீட்டு நூல் கேட்டல். In addition to this Beschi mentions ஐவகைக் கேள்வி.

He in pirapantam has enumerated 96 and had described each which is very useful and important. Under Cāti he gives four kinds i.e., (1) Andharam, (2) Kannadam, (3) Dravidam and (4) Maharastram. We are unable to comprehend this. This is
