Four computer software in Tamil, were developed as per the specifications and standardisation announced by the State Government on June 13, were presented to Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi at the Secretariat , after a demonstration programme. Suvita Tamil Wordprocessor and 'Kalaignar 99 educationist' were developed by Suvita Computers of Triplicane, the other two software, 'Kalaignar' and 'Anna", were developed in monolingual (Tamil) and bilingual (Tamil and English) fonts by 'Kanithamizh Sangam', a Chennai based association of Tamil computer software developers. Welcoming the new software, the Chief Minister told mediapersons that this will encourage the Government's efforts to develop Tamil computer software. He said efforts are already on to introduce Tamil computers in selected Government Offices in Tiruvarur district. In due course, it will be extended to other districts also, he said.
