Bharathi has made poignant remarks about the injustice meted out to women, in his poems, articles and short stories. He would expect women to be treated with respect and dignity, in a way no less than a man would be. Where this is not in vogue, he would like the women to rise in revolt. He was against child marriage and forced marriages. He argued that women should have the freedom to break away, when they want, from the bonds of marriage. He advocates women to get educated the same way and to the same extent as men do. He advises them to fight for their rights, where they are denied.
