Bharathidasan is proud of the rich heritage and culture of his race - the Tamil race. The antiquity of Tamils is as old as the earth itself; their civilization is the oldest and the core of their culture is still preserved as evidenced in their hospitality, a temparament nurtured as a virtue. Their love for Nature, their heroism and their language are all living testaments to the greatness of the Tamil race. But the glory and the grandeur of the Tamils, the poet says is at stake. Unless the Tamils unite and stand together, the risk may prove fatal.
