Nature
has always found a prominent place in Tamil poetry. Whether it is
description of nature per se, or description of nature as objective
correlatives of subjective feelings, we find them aplenty in the
compositions of Tamil poets from the days of Kapilar of Sangam Era
to the present. Bharathi Dasan, though popularly known as a poet
of revolutionary ideals, can be found to have an intrinsic affinity
with nature. His concern for the community and his longings for
social change get reflected effortlessly in his description of Nature.
This
lesson attempts to present to you a few glimpses of how Bharathi
Dasan viewed different objects of Nature, and how his perception
of nature was always coloured with his concern for the suffering
and the marginalized.
