The Kuraḷ’s text Parimēlalakar’s commentary, Rāmānuja Kavirāyar’s amplification of the commentary and Drew’s English prose rendering of the Kuraḷ were all included.

Drew’s revised version by Lazarus, has been published by the “South India Saiva Siddhanta Works Publishing Society” in 1962 entitled “Tirukkuraḷ” with translations in English.

Drew while treating the 3rd Kuṟaḷ has an interesting to make. For “malarmicai ēkiṉāṉ, he says “who occupies swiftly the flower of the mind.”

For Kuraḷ 322 Drew translates “palluyir” as “the manifold life of other creatures” and “ōmputal” he gives “preservation.” Drew has very correctly rendered into English the original.

Pope while discussing Drew’s rendering to Kuṟaḷ No.332 notes that Drew says that “the one is by slow degrees; the other is rapid-in a moment.”⁶¹ This ascribed to Drew is an interesting explanation. The acquisition of wealth can be only by gradual degrees while the dispersion of a congregation after a theatrical programme will be sudden and quick. The differences-poles apart-are beautifully revealed.

The sense of vēlāṇ mukatta kaḷiṟu according to Dr. Pope is doubtful. Native commentator render it as “tusks that impaled armed men.”⁶² Drew translates it as “warrior faced.” This is his own individual interpretation.

Drew while dealing with the title of chapter 53 translates it as “On kindness to Relatives”, while Pope renders the same title as “Cherishing one’s kindred.” The latter translation reveals the original more aptly.

For Kuṟaḷ 531, Pope finds that Drew writes, “the thought-lessness which springs from the intoxication of great joy”; but the Saiva Siddhanta Publication which has Drew’s version says “More evil than excessive anger is forgetfulness which springs
