    “பரம்பொருளின் சொரூபம் : எல்லாக் குற்றங்கட்கும் எதிர்த்தட்டாயிருக்குந்தன்மையாலும் மங்களம் பொருந்திய நற்குணங்கட்கெல்லாம் இருப்பிடனாயிருக்குந் தன்மையாலும் தன்னின் வேறுபட்ட எல்லாப் பொருள்கட்கும் வேறுபட்டதாய், எங்கும் நிறைந்திருப்பதனால் இன்ன இடத்திலிருப்பதென்று இடத்தால் அளவிட்டுக் கூறமுடியாததாய், என்றும் உள்ளதாதலின் இன்ன காலத்திலிருப்பதென்று காலத்தால் அளவிட்டுக் கூற முடியாததாய், எல்லாப் பொருள்களும் தனக்குச் சரீரமாகத் தான் ஆத்துமாவாய்த் தனக்கு வேறோர் ஆத்துமா இல்லாமையாலே ஒரு பொருளைக்கொண்டு அளவிட்டு அறிய முடியாததாய், ஞானானந்தமயமாய், ஞானம் பலம் ஐஸ்வரியம் சீலம் முதலான எல்லையில்லாத நற்குணங்கட்கெல்லாம் பெருங்கடல் போன்றதாய், திருமகள் கேள்வனாய்”-ஈட்டின் தமிழாக்கம் : பக்கம். 35.

   In this commentary, the explanation of philosophic thoughts and sequence of the Sacred hymns, the connotations of words and expressions and the citation of authoritative texts are characterised by great erudition and profound devotion.

        The Tamil rendering of the Idu is entitled ‘Ittin Tamilakkam,’ This is the first attempt to make the spiritual treasurers of the Idu accessible to the student of Tamil. Sri B. R. Purushothama Naidu, Lecturer in Tamil, University of Madras, has done a service to the Tamil Country by rendering the commentary in a lucid and intelligible language and adding explanatory notes and references wherever necessary. This volume relates to the First Ten (‘MutDal Pattu’) of the Tiruvaymoli consisting of One hundred hymns. The author proposes to render the remaining ‘Nine Tens’ in the successive nine volumes. It is hoped that this publication will lead to a greater appreciation of the literary and philosophical merits of the Tiruvaymoli in the Tamil country.
