Rejection of Radical Consonants

1. Parts of certain verbs:

e.g. Root Parts of verbs
  varu vƒ -Imp.sing.
vammin- pl. (lit.)
vandƒn - past finite verb.
vanda - past participle.

2. Alternative verbal themes :

e.g. kr-k, to string, as beads, flowers.
po-po, to pierce.

3. Formation of new verbs:

e.g. šƒy-šƒ, to die.

4. Derivatives formed by lengthening of included vowel of themes:

e.g. koudu-kdu, to pick and adjust with the beak,
as feathers.
peyar-pr, name.
poudu-podu, time.
migu-mi, to remain.

5. Participial nouns:

e.g. vyndn-vndan, one of the three ancient hereditary Tamil kings, lit. ‘he who wore a crown’.

6 Derivative nouns:

e.g. pƒ–-pƒ,poem.
dyvu-dvu, deity.

Contractions:

e.g. tengaŒgƒy-teŒgƒy, coconut.
tam+ƒy=tƒy, his or her or their mother, mother.

Haplology:

e.g. maga+ka˜=makka˜, children, mankind.
aga+ka˜ippu=akka˜ippu, rejoicing.
