  மக்கள், ஞாயிறு திங்கள் தீ என்பவைகளுக்கு மேலான தனிப் பெரும்பொருள் ஒன்று உண்டு என்று கொண்ட காலத்தில் அவர்கள் பழைய அப்பன் வடிவத்துக்கு முச்சுடர்களைக் கண்கள் எனக் கொண்டனர், ஆங்காங்கு மக்கள் வழிபட்ட பேய்கள் அவரின் பரிவாரங்கலாயின. உலகமக்களெல்லாராலும் வழிபடப்பட்ட பாம்பு அவரின் ஆபரணங்களாயின; பயங்கரமான தாய்க்கடவுள் இப்பொழுது சாந்த வடிவினளாய் அவரின் பாரியாயினள். உமை, எஞ்ஞான்றும் கன்னி எனப்பட்டார்.2 மொகஞ்சொதரோவிற் காணப்பட்ட சிவன் திருவுருவத்துக்கு மூன்று கண்கள் உள்ளன.3
