சிவ வழிபாட்டின் தொன்மை

  சிவ வழிபாடு அறியமுடியாத பழைமையுடையது. சிந்துவெளிப் புதைப்பொருள் ஆராய்ச்சி நிகழ்த்திய சேர்யோன் மார்சல் என்பார் சிவமதத்தின் பழைமை கற்காலத்துக்கும் அப்பாற் செல்கின்றதென்றும், இப்பொழுது உலகிற் காணப்படும் சமயங்கள் எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் அது முற்பட்டதென்றும் கூறியுள்ளார்.1 பனேசி என்பார், "மொகஞ்சொதரோ அரப்பா என்னுமிடங்களிற் கிடைத்த, களிமண்ணாற் செய்யப்பட்ட உருவங்களும், கடவுள் வடிவங்களும் இலிங்கங்களும், நாம் இதுகாறும் எண்ணியதைவிடத் துர்க்கை சிவ வழிபாடுகள் மிகப் பழைமையுடையனவென்று அறிவிக்கின்றன" எனக் குறிப்பிட்டனர்.2

பழைய சமயநூல்கள் வடமொழியில் எழுதப்பட்டமைக்குக் காரணம்

  முன்னோரிடத்திற் கூறியாங்குத் தமிழ் மக்கள் வீட்டு நெறிக்குரிய உண்மை ஞானங்களைக் குருமாணாக்கர் முறையிற் பயின்றுவந்தனர்.
