மத்தியதரைமக்கள் இனத்தினர் எல்லோருக்கும்
மொழியும் எழுத்தும் ஒன்றே

  உலகில் மக்கட்குலம் எப்படி ஒன்றாயிருந்ததோ அப்படியே மொழியும் ஒன்றாயிருந்ததென்பது மொழிநூலார் நன்கு ஆராய்ந்து காட்டிய உண்மை. உலகில் மிகப் பழைய மக்கள் மத்தியதரை முதல் கிழக்கிந்தியத் தீவுகள்வரையில் வாழ்ந்தோராவர்.1 இந்நாடுகளில் வழங்கிய முதிய மொழிகள் ஒர் அடிமரத்தினின்றும் கவர்விட்ட கொம்பர்கள் போன்றன என்று ஆராய்ச்சி விரர் நிலைநாட்டியுள்ளனர். இதனால், தமிழ், ஆதிமொழிக்கு மிக அண்மையில் உள்ளது எனத் தோன்றுகின்றது. சிந்துநதிப் பள்ளத்தாக்கிற்கிடைத்த முத்திரைகளிற் காணப்பட்ட எழுத்துக்களோடு உலகின் பல பாகங்களில் வழங்கிய எழுத்துக்களையும் ஒப்புநோக்கிய கெரஸ் பாதிரியார் கூறியிருப்பது வருமாறு :

  "மொகஞ்சொதரோ எழுத்துக்களைப் போன்றன இலிபிய வனாந்தரத்தை அடுத்த செலிமா என்னுமிடத்திற் காணப்படுகின்றன. இதனைப் பேராசிரியர் இலாங்டன் என்பவரும் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்.

  Sir John Evans in his Presidential Address to the British Association says: "Southern India was probably the cradle of human race.". Investigation to relation to race show it to be possible that Southern India was once the passage ground by which the ancient progenitors of northern and Mediterranean races proceeded to the parts of the globe which they inhabit.-Cultural Heritage of India Vol. III P. 677..
