மொகஞ்சொதரோ எழுத்துக்கள்

  இவ்வெழுத்துக்களைப்பற்றிக் கெரஸ் பாதிரியார் வெளியிட்டுள்ள சில உண்மைகளை ஈண்டுத் தருதும். "இவ்வெழுத்துக்கள் ஓவிய எழுத்துக்கள் தொடர்பானவை. இவை கிழக்குத் தீவுகள் முதல் ஸ்பெயின் தேசம் வரையில் வழங்கின. இவை ஓவிய எழுத்துக்களுக்கும் ஒலிமுறையில் எழுதப்படும் எழுத்துக்களுக்கும் இடைப்பட்டன; இந்திய நாட்டுக்கு அயலில் வழங்கிய எழுத்துக்களுக்கும் சீன சுமேரிய எகிப்திய எழுத்துக்களுக்கும் இனமுடையன, மனிதன், மீன், பறவை, மரம், நாற்காலி, மேல், கீழ் என்பவற்றை அடையாளங்களாற் குறிப்பிட்டுக் காட்டுவது எளிது.

  மொகஞ்சொதரோவில் வழங்கிய சொற்களில் பல திராவிட மொழிகளிற் காணப்படுகின்றன. ஆகவே திராவிட மொழிகளுக்குத் தாய் மொகஞ்சொதரோ மொழி எனக் கூறலாம். திராவிட மொழிகளிற் காணப்படும். மொகஞ்சொதரோ மொழிச்சொற்களிற் பல தமிழிற் காணப்படுகின்றன. ஆகவே தமிழ் மற்றைய திராவிட மொழிகளிலும் மூப்பு உடையது என்று கருதப்படுகின்றது. மற்றைய திராவிட மொழிகளில் சில சொற்கள் காணப்படுகின்றன.
