Key Sequences For the Extended Tamil Typewriter Keyboard Layout
The following enhancement is optional. If a vendor wants to implement this extension, he can do so exactly as mentioned below.
The upper case A is provided as the escape key.
When the upper case A is pressed, ALL the special symbols in the computer keyboard Become available in the same positions, except for the full stop. Note that this escape key is only for the special symbols, and not for the numerals and the Engligh letters.
The Tamil symbols patru (
), varavu (
), date(
), month(
), year(
), number(
), Rupee(
) and merpadi(
) have also been provided, in the same places as in the Tamil99 Layout. Note that these symbols are available in the TAM code.
The copyright symbol can be got by typing the lower case c after the escape key A. The bullet symbol can be got by typing full stop after the escape key A.
The symbols quarter (
), half (
) and three quarters (
) are provided in the places of 4,2 and 3. This placement is easy to remember. These symbols are not available in the TAM and TAB coding schemes. It is suggested that these may be provided in the vacant positions 141, 157 and 158. It should be noted that these vacant slots are not considered safe. This placing may work only under restricted conditions
