Some anecdotes from the Sangam literature are narrated in the two sections that follow. These anecdotes are chosen to show the refinement and sophistication in the thoughts and feelings of the people. Section 6:4 gives anecdotes related to the love-life while section 6:5 presents anecdotes related to valour, generosity and the respect commanded by poets with the rulers.
