System for Basic Level of the
Certificate Programme
The
examinations for basic level will be under Three modes:
I.
Oral Examination - 100 Marks
II. Visual Examination - 100 Marks
III. Written Examinatin - 100 Marks
I.
Oral Examination
100
Marks
Pronunciation
Test: Each student should be tested orally for the correct pronunciation
of the Tamil characters covering vowels, consonants, Vowel Consonants and
the difference in pronunciation between la, La and za; Na, n'a and na; and
ra and Ra
Recitation
of Rhymes: The rhymes included in the basic level will be recited
by the students.
II
Visual Examination

Marks
This
test should be based on identification of the words from the pictures. The
pictures shall be taken from the glossary table. This test will have two
components:
1.
Showing the picture and asking the child to tell the word.

For the given word, asking the child to identify the picture.

test can be held with the help of computers or hard copy pictures.

Written Examination

Written
examination is mainly to test the capabilities of knowing the words and
the spelling. This can include
1. Filling in the blanks with the next six letters of the Alphabets.

Writing the vowel consonants combining the given vowels and consonants.

Finding out the given letter in the listed words.

Finding names of objects in the pictures from the given name list.

Drawing the sketches of the objects denoted by the given words.

Writing the word beginning with the given letter.
