Bharathi’s poems under the subtitle சுதந்திரம் give an emotional account of the thirst for freedom. Bharathi longed for freedom - not just political, but even social! He wanted freedom for the country from the foreign rulers and freedom for the people from the bindings of caste and other dominations.
