    This lesson mentions how vowel - consonant combines occur in the beginning and at the end of a word. Which letters occur in a word and at its end are illustrated. Which consontant letter occurs after a consonant is also explained.

    Of the three units in this lesson, the first discusses the status of உயிர்மெய் எழுத்துகள், The second takes up the vowels and the consonants occurring in the beginning of a word and the consanants that do not occur in that position. The third unit presents the vowels and consonants occurring at the end of a word.

    Vowels do not occur alone at the end of words and consonants in the beginning. But vowels occur in the beginning and consanants at the end. Which letters occur in which positions are thus listed and illustrated in this lesson. Some consonants which never occur in the beginning of words may occur in foreign words used in Tamil.
