The culture of a society can be viewed from three
perspectives: (i) how the society meets its basic requirements of food, dress and shelter
(ii) what the society attempts to protect and promote through education and the guidance
of the elderly and (iii) what kind of symbols (social, ethical, religious or otherwise)
are taken for granted by the society as a whole. We attempt to illustrate the three
perspectives on culture in this section.
