Luminaries of Grammatical Studies of the later part of the 17th and early part of the 18th century, the other two being Vaithianatha Navalar the author of Illakkana Vilakkam and Subramania Dikshitar, the author of Prayoga Vivekam. All these three works are not easy of understanding without proper aids; so we undertook to publish all these three with proper aids and have completed Ilakkana Vilakkam except for the last three chapters. Now Ilakkana Kothu is before the public and Prayoga Vivekam is in print.

We are thankful to the able Editor Panditha Vidwan Thiru. T.V. Gopala Iyer, M.A., B.O.L., and our energetic Assistant Librarian, Thiru. M. Seeralan, B.A., who took unique interest in getting these volumes much before the scheduled time. We are in duty bound to mention the good services of Messrs Sri Saravana Printer's, Sirkali, for their speedy and handsome printing.

We wish to record our gratitude to the Government of Tamil Nadu for their annual publication grant which has made publications like this possible.

Thanjavur,
