In the following section we give a few glimpses from the lives of Tamils today. We find the city life influenced to a large extent by the culture of the western countries. Material pursuit and fast-paced city life have eroded the subtleties of traditional beliefs and practices. Yet the rural life retains many of the features of traditional culture.
