    Language Style and the Correction




    This lesson presents the style of the language used to improve the quality of newspapers. The style of a newspaper should be clear, brief and interesting to the readers.

        The style of the ancient Tamil magazines, the structure of language used, the manner of correction and omission, edition with addition and other factors like grammar and text breakers are dealt with in the five units.

        Correcting the basic news quality, and making it lively and interesting are explained with suitable illustrations.

        Text breakers like column, paragraph and sub-headings are used to enhance the readability of the news presented.

    This lesson will equip the learners with the knowledge of differences between literary and journalistic styles and the language style adopted in the ancient news publications. The role of journalistic style in the growth and development of Tamil has been pointed out by Tamil experts like Thiru.Vi.Kalyana Sundaranaar Variations in style, should not affect the readability of magazines.
