    In the earlier part of the twelfth century appeared great works like கலிங்கத்துப்பரணி, பெரியபுராணம், திருவுந்தியார் and தண்டிஅலங்காரம். Commentaries were provided during this period also. This lesson tells you about the Vaishnavite and ‘Jain’ religious works of this part of the century.

    There are four units in this lesson. The first one focuses on literature and grammar. The second unit discusses the commentary works on earlier literature. Religious literature is the subject of the third unit. The fourth unit deals with other types of literature belonging to this era.

    Bakti literature like பெரிய புராணம், சிற்றிலக்கியம். like. கலிங்கத்துப் பரணி and Buddhist contribution like வீரசோழிய உரை are the important creations discussed in this lesson.

    You can learn about war-related information and descriptive writing on war in this lesson. பரணி is the name of such writings. Not only religious literature but war - related literature and philosophical treatises were produced as well. Contributions through grammar and commentaries highlight this period.
