Tamils have always put all human beings on par. Grouping people on the lines of caste is irrational. Castiest discrimination is the result of ignorance and has no place in Tamil culture. Then, where has it come from? The seeds of castiesm, says Bharathi Dasan, were sown by Manu. The social evil spread its roots among Tamils later. The poet exhorts the Tamils to wean out the symptoms of caste from their community. He advocates inter-caste marriage as a way of overcoming the evils of caste.
